The Canadian Armed Forces Tobacco Cessation Initiatives
Research shows that the best success rates for quitting tobacco products come from a combination of behaviour modification. Support and medication helps to reduce nicotine withdrawal. The Butt Out program helps to strengthen the commitment and readiness of its participants by developing a stable support system and by setting realistic goals to become smoke-free. Motivational meetings offered by Health Promotion increases the chance of success of the participants in the pursuit of smoking cessation.
Participants may be eligible to acquire nicotine replacement therapies or medications at the Department of National Defence’s expense, if they register and participate in the Butt Out program.
