Mental Health Prevention, Support & Intervention - Your WMFRC is here to help.

WMFRC Family Liason Officer/Mental Health Coordinator:

Help is available; you are never alone. The WMFRC Mental Health Coordinator is able to assist families of CAF personnel in their navigation of, and access to, relevant programs and services in order to support them in challenging situations. Services are provided at no cost to the user accessing them. Flexible hours are available to suit all work and home life schedules.

WMFRC Services for CAF families: 

  • Crisis intervention
  • Accessing mental health resources and community-based programs
  • Referrals for counselling, clinical therapy, addictions, and other mental health concerns
  • Navigating Alberta Health Services and finding a family doctor
  • Groups and workshops to promote optimal mental health and well-being

The CF Member Assistance Program is a voluntary and confidential service, initiated by the Canadian Forces (CF) to help members (Regular Force, all Reserve Class Members, Cadets) and family members who have personal concerns that affect their personal well-being and/or work performance.   • Crisis Texting Service for kids of CAF families
Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) has partnered with Kids Help Phone and Trus Patriot Love Foundation to launch a crisis texting service for kids from military families living in Canada. Children, youth and young adults from military families can access free mental health and well-being support by texting the keyword CAFKIDS at 686868 for service in English. The Crisis Text Line powered by Kids Help Phone is confidential and available day or night. Learn More
  • Strongest Families Institute
​Is your child or youth between the ages of 3-17? Are they experiencing behaviour issues or anxiety? Strongest Families Institute is a not-for-profit corporation providing evidence-based services to children and families seeking help for mental health and other issues impacting health and well-being. They provide timely care to families by teaching skills through their unique distance coaching approach - supporting families over the phone and internet in the comfort and privacy of their own home. Strongest Families provides family-centered care that is customized to their needs. They can help with feelings like anxiety or anger that may arise due to the challenges of military life.
